Airfloat Going Green

Airfloat has a new Green Initiative. We have come up with many new ideas to help the company go green.

Some of our initiatives implemented in the last year include the following:

Recycling bins are located throughout the office and shop. We are recycling paper, aluminum cans, plastic and cardboard.

Recycling of all worn wooden pallets through Decatur Recycling.

Airfloat partnered with Ameren to implement energy savings with the introduction of new shop lights. The old ones were replaced with more efficient and brighter lights. This will save on electricity and create a better work environment for the shop. The new lights are also easier and quicker to turn on and off.

Airfloat also worked with Ameren on the purchase of a new compressor that runs at 40% less energy consumption than the older unit.

We have unplugged the deep freezer in the Winter and are asking that all computers be shut off every night to save energy. We now require that all radios, lights, fans and heaters are turned off before leaving every evening and we have programmed the office thermostat to not run as high when the office is closed.

There have been improvements made in the kitchen area also. Plates, bowls, glasses, and silverware have been purchased, so we are not using paper/disposable products. To reduce paper towel waste, a cloth towel dispenser has been installed to dry hands, in both the kitchen area and in the restrooms.

We have placed many auto turn on/off motion sensing light switches throughout the facility to cut down on wasted energy.

The Green Team would like to thank everyone for doing their part. If you have any suggestions in what else we can do to continue to go green, please contact us at:
