Introducing Airfloat's New and Improved Cast Aluminum Air Skid

Airfloat, the company that pioneered air bearing technology, once again revolutionizes heavy load movement! The Decatur, Illinois-based company has redesigned its workhorse cast aluminum air skid, improving it in virtually every way.

Constructed from durable, lightweight cast aluminum, the new air skid is the culmination of years of research and development. The rugged one-piece frame has no welds to fail. And the slideout, tray-mounted air bearing allows the bearing to be pulled out from the side – without removing the load or turning the skid over. Tapped mounting holes on the top and sides of the skid frame provide several mounting options, while four air inlet options make air hose management a breeze.

Weighing just over 35 lbs. (including air bearing and tray), the new air skid is exceptionally lightweight and portable, yet it easily handles loads up to 6,000 lbs. (or 24,000 lbs. for a set of four). And it stands just 2.5 inches tall, enabling easy loading.

Like all Airfloat air bearing products, the new cast aluminum air skid allows precise, omnidirectional movement and positioning of heavy loads or machinery. High performance air bearings create a continuous flowing film of air between a flexible diaphragm and the floor surface, making it possible to move a 1,000 lb. load with about 1 lb. of force. And because they’re virtually friction free, air skids reduce wear and tear on floors.
