Airfloat, LLC., Manufactures Air Bearings and Ergonomic Material Handling Solutions

Move heavy industrial loads with air bearings. Airfloat has been designing airbearing technology for material handling for over 40 years. Air bearings or air casters work on the principle of using compressed air to glide industrial equipment over a cushion of air, providing a cost-effective alternative to overhead cranes.

Airfloat products range from air bearing airskids (air skates, air casters) to fully-automated conveyor systems and moving assembly lines.

As air film solutions became popular as transporter platforms and heavy-duty rigging casters, the technology was soon extended into air bearing industrial turntables, including robotic turntables, mechanical turntables and rack-handling systems made with air bearings.  See our full line of air bearing products and material handling solutions.

Airfloat at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum

John Deere 1918 tractor was “Airfloated” into Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum

The largest artifact in an upcoming exhibit on agriculture was moved into the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum in Springfield, Illinois, on May 28, 2009, using Airfloat technology to keep from damaging the Museum's stone floors. The 1918 John Deere tractor is to be used in the exhibit, "Illinois Stories: 'How Vast and Varied a Field' ... The Agricultural Vision of Abraham Lincoln", opening June 15, 2009.

The 4,250-pound 1918 John Deere tractor was “floated” on a bed of compressed air using technology developed by Airfloat LLC.

Tilt_Table_sh.jpg (9198 bytes) The Airfloat "over and under with tilt" saves floor space by stacking parts bins for easy forklift access. The bin in use is tilted so that the contents are within easy reach by assembly workers. This saves time on the line and eliminates waste motion in parts handling. It's also safer for workers because the long reaches that cause sprains and strains are eliminated.

Where your factory floor is tight for space but you need ergonomic positioning of parts, this video shows how to solve those problems. For proven solutions to material movement challenges, contact Airfloat. [watch video]
