Air Skids - Equipment Transporting Application

APPLICATION:
An Airfloat customer required a safe and cost effective method for moving a 68,000 lbs. (30,840 kg.) vertical boring mill over 200 ft. (60 m), with it’s final destination requiring an 180 degree turn followed by precise positioning.

SOLUTION:
Airfloat manufactured a standard set of four 36" (91.4 cm) single bearing air skids. This product allowed the customer to eliminate floor overhead loading problems. It reduced labor costs and downtime. The customer moved this heavy load with 12 people, 200 ft., in 15 minutes – the time savings alone was phenomenal.
