

APPLICATION:
An Airfloat customer, needing to increase productivity, purchased additional presses for their operation. Prior to this additional piece of equipment, they were changing molds about three times a day. However, with the additional equipment this was going to more than double their time spent changing molds. The Airfloat customer needed to develop a material handling solution which would help increase productivity, efficiency and safety while saving labor costs, time, and press/mold damage.
SOLUTION:
Airfloat designed and manufactured a 30,000 lb., single position, air bearing equipped, powered mold transporter/changer. This mold changer interfaces with both presses. The transporter is about 96" x 80", has a no load transport speed of 0-60 F.P.M., and the air flow required is 180 SCFM @ 80 PSI. The mold changer allows the customer to complete a mold change in less than 10 minutes. Previously, they were contracting out labor to complete each mold change. Operation of Airfloat's Change-It Mold Changer, can be safely and easily accomplished by one person via the remote pendant controller or by on board controls. This mold changer has saved the company an extraordinary amount of time and money.
