Industry Solutions: Government/Defense 60 Ton Tank Transporter
APPLICATION:
Maneuvering and moving a 60 ton tracked vehicle used to be a tough job. Now, with a low profile Air Bearing Equipped Transporter, it can be done with finger-tip ease. The XM-1 tank is driven on to this transporter, and from there it is moved on air through a narrow doorway into an anechoic test cell.
SOLUTION:
The transporter is equipped with 2 drives that allow steering and rotation of the 60 ton tank inside the test cell. Each side of the transporter is equipped with 4 - 36" diameter air bearings. A remote pendant allows the operator full visibility of the tank and easy control of the air bearings and drives.
BENEFITS:
The only safe and effective solution for moving equipment of this size and weight. Wheels, cranes or portable lifting equipment were not an option to move this load into position.
