APPLICATION:
An operator was manually pushing and positioning paper rolls. Not only was it difficult to precisely position with a lift truck, but it was also very time consuming. The main decision to investigate alternate positioning methods was centered around ergonomic and productivity concerns.

SOLUTION:
Airfloat has designed and manufactured a U-shaped air bearing platform with a secondary lifting deck, all powered by a (SD-6) steerable air motor drive tractor. The operator slides the forked platform in and around the paper roll. Then, the secondary lift allows the operator to lift the paper roll off of the floor and position it in place, bringing both ease and flexibility into the process.

  • The system reduces the risk of injury to the operator caused by manual pushing.
  • System will increase production due to a decrease in dependence of a fork truck.
