Cook Nuclear Power Plant Bridgman, Michigan
APPLICATION:
An Airfloat customer in the electrical industry required a method for effectively transporting tube bundles on a floor that had a low floor loading capacity.
SOLUTION:
Low floor-load capacity prohibited the use of wheeled equipment for moving and installing tube bundles into heat exchanger jackets. Bundles weighed in excess of 100,000 pounds, but with the use of Airfloat air bearing platforms we were able to reduce floor-loading to less than 300 pounds per square foot. Tube bundles could be moved safely through the plant and virtually floated in and out of exchanger jackets.
BENEFITS:
We were able to overcome the challenge of moving heavy loads over low floor loading capacity.
